Questions? We've got answers.

Because the Giving Gallop is not your typical holiday run, we figured it might help to answer the common questions we get. Tap one to open it.

Is this a race?
No, this is not a race. Think of this as a long, slow training run or casual walk with friends. It is the perfect Zone 2 run / walk to get some mileage in for those training for that next half, or even Boston in April!
How do the gift cards work? What sort should I buy?
We ask every participant to bring a minimum of $25 in gift cards, and we highly encourage you to bring as much as you can afford. Cards can be from any business, but think about what anyone you pass on the street could use: more Amazon, Target, Stop & Shop, less Ruth's Chris. Our suggestion: don't buy a single card, buy as many smaller cards as you can so you have plenty to hand out. Wrap them if possible (Amazon sells pre-wrapped holiday gift cards). Handing out gifts to people we pass is what makes this run amazing!
Where does the money go this year?
To Boston Children's Hospital's Every Child Fund, through the Miles for Miracles Boston Marathon team. Make a donation of any amount to participate. Every dollar counts! Donate here.
Do I need to wear a silly outfit?
No you don't, Scrooge! Wear whatever makes you comfortable for the weather and the miles. That said, it would be a lot cooler if you did...
Do you have shuttles to the stops or back to the start?
Unfortunately we don't; both courses are one-way. Walkers finish at the Heights Pub, about 0.7 miles from Robbins Farm. Runners finish at Boston Children's in Longwood, where a ride share back to Arlington Heights is 20–30 minutes (or Green Line to Alewife and the 77 bus). Plan ahead and bring a card.
Is there parking at Robbins Farm?
There is plenty of on-street parking around Robbins Farm Park, along Eastern Ave, or on any of the neighborhood side streets.
Is this a rain or shine event?
Unless there are extremely unsafe conditions, the show will go on. If you sign up, we'll email you if anything changes.
Are there bathrooms at the start?
Good question! There's usually a porta-potty at Robbins Farm Park, but it may be removed for the winter months. To be safe, take care of business beforehand.
Do I have to do the whole course? Can I just meet you at a stop?
Nope! We'd love your company for the whole thing, but you can stop at any time, and you're welcome to join us at a stop. Just remember there's no transportation, so you're on the hook for your own way home. Before leaving, please check in with one of the guides so we know you've headed out.
